Dissapointed - Leaving

I'm leaving DA. I know, not a lot of people care. Mainly, because I'm not the most popular, nor the most known of all. I put a lot of time and dedication into my artwork, and I'm sure many others here do aswell. Thats why I watch the people that I watch. They may not be the most popular, but they sure as hell put a lot of people to shame.

After realizing that anything Kindom Hearts, Megas XLR, and Harry Potter (mainly, anything Snape, tisk tisk) goes into the front page, you kind of start loosing hope.

But after horribly drawn Axel drawings(KH2) Badly proportioned Megas' characters, fat anime chicks, badly drawn and colored, and more of that shit, get to the front page, you start dying a little on the inside, and throwing up on your monitor O_o.

But today, anyone reading this...today, This....this....I'm sorry, but there's no other words to describe it. This shit --->[link] got on the front page, and already has more favs than a lot of my stuff....I'm dissapointed, and dead. No, actually, the site is dead to me.

I'm done.

I rarely treat the front page as anything of merit anymore, so it's just a circus to me.

With a talent like yours, I wouldn't leave. There's bountiful idiocy on here, but that's because the people that show it hold no faith in their own work, so they feel the need to cheat the system. Despite its bugs, DA's still one of the better art sites around, IMO

I was a part of the Conceptart.org community, but I dont think I belonged there. Everyone was just on a different level, might give it a chance again maybe ;P

The problem is not the user's fault that they're achieving popularity incorrectly, the problem is the pageview count that causes someone to refresh the deviations over and over to make it to the front page.

Deviation pageviews are supposed to be unique and popularity is NOT supposed to be based on pageviews at all either. It's only supposed to be judged by favourites over the last 24 hours.

People who refresh deviations over and over in a deliberate attempt to gain popularity and cheat their way to the front page at this time would be considered a exploit of dA's features: FAQ #295: What exactly is an "Abuse or Exploit of the System"?

Despite that, you have talent and you don't have to be popular on dA at all and popularity exploits are not a reason for anyone like you to leave this site forever.

I tried to help out other deviants who left dA and to some extent, I was flat out insulted pretty badly to a point where I lost my temper and threatened to be reported for harassment.

Well, there is one good thing that came of that post. I happened upon a wonderful artist who actually puts effort and time into their works. That, in and of itself is reason to celebrate.

I am watching you. Even if you are thinking of taking off. Who knows, you may change your mind.

this shouldn't be reason to leave DA... the front page is a bit O_o but it's only for a day at most and that guy is probably getting more abuse than kudos.

Talent will be recognised in time.
